Introduction to Prometheus

RSVP ON MEETUP

Prometheus is the defacto system for monitoring the performance and behavior of your containerized application and Kubernetes clusters. The second project admitted to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation right behind Kubernetes, Prometheus is regarded as a powerful and easy to get started solution for observing Kubernetes and the application contained within. Join us as we explore the solution that Prometheus provides with respect to high-performance metrics storage, service discovery in a highly dynamic container orchestration system and visualization of your metrics using Grafana. We will also cover the importance of instrumenting your applications using Prometheus client libraries and the visibility you will gain.

AGENDA:

  • 6-6:15: Welcome/pizza/sponsor shoutouts
  • 6:15-6:30: Hiring/Looking/News
  • 6:30-8:00: Main Talk

Information about Cloud Native Denver

As a Cloud Engineering Manager said to me recently, “Kubernetes has won. Everyone else just has yet to realize they’ve lost.” Come find out why!

If you’re a dev who has just been told that your job description now includes “ops,” you live in the cloud or are just cloud-curious, this meetup will get you acquainted with the open source technologies driving the future of deployment and instrumentation.

Each third Wednesday of the month we’ll be exploring the technologies that are part of the Cloud Native Foundation: Kubernetes, Envoy, Prometheus, and more, along with complementary topics like Docker, AWS, Google Cloud, etc.
