One of the most compelling features of Bitcoin is the way in which it achieves distributed consensus through "proof of work". This is different than other consensus protocols like Paxos or Raft in that consensus can be achieved by a collection of anonymous nodes in a decentralized manner.
Benjamin Ullrich will take a look at the distributed nature of the Bitcoin blockchain, how it's unique, and compare it to other approaches to distributed computing. By the end of this talk you'll begin to understand why everyone has been talking about the disruptive nature of the "blockchain".
Looking forward to meeting up again, hope to see everyone next month.
